Comprehensive Health Services Completes SOC II Audit in November

The Comprehensive Health Services offices in Florida and Virginia recently completed the examination and confirmation steps for our SOC II Audit Type II. Prior to the audit, our team underwent a SOC II Report Readiness Assessment to assist us in addressing questions about scoping the report, documenting requirements, and the investing time and company resources to complete the audit. As a result of the SOC II reporting, our practices for safeguarding information are now aligned to the highest levels of security and compliance.

SOC II reporting focuses on the controls at service organizations that relate to five trust and service principles (TSPs): security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. Our goal for the SOC II initiative was to increase transparency for how we report our organizational controls and to build trust across internal and external stakeholders. Future compliance initiatives at Comprehensive Health Services include a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) assessment which is currently underway, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification, and Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST) certification.

Comprehensive Health Services Supports Medical Care for National Responder Support Camp in Corpus Christi, Texas

In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the initial disaster response involved a call to action by the Local, State, and Federal Governments. During this stabilizing operation, the focus was to provide emergency services and life-sustaining support, such as food, water, and safety to all disaster victims.

In support of this initiative, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) established National Responder Support Camps (NRSC) throughout Texas to ensure that the basic needs of emergency response personnel were met, including shelter, food, and medical care. According to the Department of Homeland Security, NRSCs were established to support FEMA missions. Their primary purpose is to improve FEMA’s “ability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards,” during presidentially-declared disasters. To support these FEMA missions, Responder Support Camps are built, assembled, and operated by contractors. (Source: https://www.dhs.gov/publication/dhsfemapia-037-national-responder-suppor...)

Comprehensive Health Services is proud to serve and support the medical needs of these emergency responders. Currently, a small group of our medical professionals are assigned to the medical unit at the Responder Support Camp in Corpus Christi, TX. This camp houses approximately 1,000 Federal Responders.

Located onsite, the camp’s medical unit is staffed for and supplied with provisions to administer medical care and stand-by medical services to disaster responders. The staff – 1 Nurse and 2 Emergency Medical Technicians – triage medical needs; make determinations for immediate treatment; and collect and record medical treatment-related information for all responders who seek medical attention. Comprehensive Health Services provides ongoing support to this responder population 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
