Comprehensive Health
Services Awarded Nissan Contract
CHS
to Provide Workforce Health Services to Over 14,000
Nissan Employees in Four Locations
VIENNA, VA – November 1,
2006 – Comprehensive Health Services
(CHS), a nationwide workforce health company, today
announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide
onsite health services for Nissan North America at four
locations.
CHS, who competed against six national
occupational health and wellness firms to win the Nissan
contract, will provide site-specific medical services
including onsite physician services, wellness and health
promotion programs, rehabilitation, and case management
programs to Nissan’s employees at its onsite clinics
located in Smyrna, Tenn.; Decherd, Tenn.; Canton, Miss.;
and the new North American headquarters in Franklin,
Tenn., when construction is completed in 2008.
“We’re very proud to be working
with Nissan on a proactive approach to health in the
workplace,” said James Mitchell, executive vice
president of CHS. “Onsite Health Centers are quickly
becoming an essential means of reducing health care
costs and taking better care of employees.”
At each Nissan location, CHS will begin
with an analytical framework to customize the onsite
programs, precisely matching needs with personnel. This
in-depth analysis of Nissan’s workforce needs
will enable CHS to make every onsite unit an ideal strategic
fit from a business perspective. Onsite staff will then
consist of tailor-made comprehensive medical teams of
physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses,
case managers, physical and occupational therapists,
and other workforce health professionals. Each medical
team will manage quality control, ensure regulatory
compliance, and provide a convenient workforce health
solution for Nissan employees.
CHS will provide evidence-based best practices
and regulatory compliance in key areas such as medical
treatment for both work-related and non-work-related
injuries and illnesses, preventive care, case management,
fitness-for-duty, return to work, data management, pre-placement
exams, medical surveillance and physical therapy.
To help manage the multi-site program,
CHS will utilize PIHMSTM, a health and productivity
management software program developed by KCRS, a software
firm in Pittsburgh, PA.
The Smyrna facility, which employs 7,000,
has the capacity to produce 550,000 vehicles per year.
The Canton location has 4,300 employees and an annual
production capacity of 400,000 vehicles. The Decherd
facility employs approximately 1,400 employees. In the
summer of 2006 Nissan North America relocated its corporate
headquarters from Gardena, Calif., to the greater Nashville
area. Construction of its new headquarters in Franklin,
Tenn., will be completed in mid-2008.
