CHS Appoints Leanne N. Metcalfe, PhD, as Senior Research Analyst

Metcalfe to Play Key Role in Benefits of Onsite Health Center
Analytics for Employers

RESTON, VA. – October 8, 2009Comprehensive Health Services, Inc. (CHS), the largest independent workforce health company in the nation, has named Leanne N. Metcalf, PhD to the position of Senior Research Analyst. The announcement was made by Stephen Hinson, MBA, CHS Senior Director of Business Analysis and Reporting.

“Bringing Dr. Metcalfe onboard marks a new stage in CHS’ development of predictive capabilities for analysis of population health care outcomes that significantly distinguishes us from our competitors,” Hinson stated. “Using a combination of outcomes analysis facilitated by Ingenix®, a leading provider of health care information, technology and consulting services, as well as unique and proprietary predictive modeling techniques, CHS continues to provide its existing and prospective clients with accurate and meaningful, data-driven analyses for best in class decision support.

“The predictive models that CHS uses during its feasibility analysis process provide an inexpensive and efficient means to accurately determine the value of an onsite clinic as a good business decision for an employer. The goal here is to reduce the amount of time and cost associated with the number of data inputs while increasing the precision with which CHS demonstrates ROI for the client. Dr. Metcalfe will play a strategic role in achieving this goal,” Hinson commented.

Most recently a Graduate Research Assistant at the Health Systems Institute (HSI) at Georgia Tech and Emory University, Metcalfe served in the HSI’s predictive modeling group conducting research in forecasting of disease burdens for chronic and acute conditions. She also worked on the implementation of new electronic medical recording systems at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta..

In her capacity at Georgia Tech, Metcalfe was a leading member of a program underwritten by Georgia Tech in partnership with CHS that produced the Workforce Health Assessment Model (WHAM), a new strategy using analytics for reducing employer health-care costs by analyzing demographic data for a particular workforce population. WHAM enables employers to not only predict the disease burden and risk factors for that population but, also to intervene to reduce or reverse those risks.
