Comprehensive Health Services’ CEO, Mel Hal, Talks About Industry Trends in August's “Inside Outsourcing"

VIENNA, VA. – August 26, 2005 – Mel Hall, CEO for Comprehensive Health Services (CHS), a nationwide occupational health and wellness services company, shared his industry trend insights in August 25 issue of Inside Outsourcing newsletter during an interview with editor Larry Janis.

Among the key points made by Mr. Hall are:

  • Rising health costs have become a boardroom issue
“Major changes over the past two years involve better managing health risks and assessing occupational health-related program costs and results…Employers realize the business value of a proactive approach to employee health and a healthy workforce.”
  • Companies are increasingly realizing that integration across functions and departments are required to maximize cost benefits
“This frequently calls for skills outside the core competencies of HR or medical departments. These skills include not only up-to-date medical know-how, but also program and project management abilities and experience."
  • The primary driver that is motivating clients to choose to outsource is the understanding that workforce health and wellness is not the company’s core competency
“[Companies] seldom have the in-house competency to correctly manage complex workforce health programs- especially when the workforce is large and geographically dispersed. There are thousands of activities that must be taken into account and executed consistently…”
  • Companies recognize that occupational health and wellness plays a significant role in ensuring a healthy workforce
“The emphasis on the value proposition and the approach to this whole area as a business problem has put companies in the position of trying to figure out how they can proactively get the best results.”
