4THOSEWHOSERVE.ORG INITIATES FIRST-EVER FIRST RESPONDER TRAINING ON
TRAUMATOLOGY & COMBAT STRESS
June 1 & 2 Seminar Will Train Counselors To Serve First Responders
Arlington, VA.
– May 9, 2007 – 4thosewhoserve.org, a grassroots membership organization of behavioral health specialists, has announced the first-ever traumatology and combat stress training specifically for clinicians who serve, or are interested in serving, the fire, police, medic and military communities. The training workshop will be held June 1 and 2 at the Marriott Courtyard Dunn Loring Fairfax in Vienna, VA. It is the first in a series of events aimed at health specialists who serve first responder communities.
"Post-9-11, the aftermath of natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina, and the Virginia Tech massacre have made it clear that our first responders, troops, and the individuals providing care to those populations must be armed with the tools necessary to manage traumatic stress disorders like PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder),” said Dodie Gill, LPC, LSATP, CEAP, chair of 4thosewhoserve.org. “Members of 4thosewhoserve.org have access to specialized training programs designed specifically to provide those necessary tools to clinicians serving the growing community of individuals susceptible to and suffering from traumatic stress.”
4thosewhoserve.org offers a variety of services to its members and affiliates including trauma and combat stress training programs, author opportunities, networking, articles and case studies, links to all related military and first responder websites, national conferences and awards programs.
