Comprehensive Health Services Employees Help To
Raise $75,000 and Hopes
Company Culture Evident As 25 Florida Staff Show True Compassion

VIENNA, VA. – May 2, 2006 – Comprehensive Health Services (CHS), a nationwide occupational health and wellness services company, today announced that 25 of its employees in Florida helped to raise $75,000 for the American Cancer Society. The staff, together with members of the Merritt Island, Fla., community, completed an 18-hour overnight Relay for Life® event on March 18, with money raised benefiting the local Brevard area American Cancer Society.

“This kind of effort reflects the nature of the compassion, hard work and dedication our employees consistently demonstrate,” said Gary Palmer, senior vice president for CHS. “We are very proud to have these 25 caring people on our team, and are honored to contribute this money to such a great cause.”

“We set up our site together, cooked and sold hot dogs and hamburgers, officiated games, walked together and cried together,” said Rose Padrick, a member of CHS’ relay team. “Many of my co-workers and I have had cancer rear its ugly head in our lives one way or another, and working together to collectively take a jab at the monster was cathartic indeed.”

18-hour nationally-known events, held locally in communities across the country, are devised to celebrate cancer survivors and raise money for American Cancer Society research and programs. The Merritt Island High School event saw teams of people gather to take turns walking or running laps. Each team tried to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

“Our team captains proudly set the tone in the first lap, and the rest of us clad in white coats carrying Life Savers (hence the team name) followed together en masse, tossing out life saver candy and sunscreen,” added Padrick. “To all of you who cheered as we passed, or dodged as we tossed candy, or bought a hot dog, or played a game, or sponsored us in walking a lap—we send a heartfelt thank you.”

CHS was included as Flagship sponsor, and became a Bronze supporter by raising $2,500 prior to the date of the Relay.
