Swine Flu Updates
The U.S. Government has declared a public health emergency based on mounting evidence of confirmed cases of swine influenza and human-to-human spread of the virus. This situation is highly fluid as details from Mexico and the U.S. are emerging. CHS will continue to monitor this situation and advise clients as to what steps need to be in place in the event of a declaration by the CDC.
In the meantime, daily hygienic measures must be used to prevent the spread of the illness. These measures include:
- Thorough hand washing.
- Avoiding hand to mouth contact.
- Using a barrier such as a tissue when sneezing or coughing and dispose of tissue after use.
- Washing hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
- Avoiding close contact with ill people.
- Avoiding work or school if you should have flu like symptoms mentioned above.
- Seek Medical Care if you are experiencing symptoms.
