Our Difference

Absence management

REAL-WORLD ASSESSMENTS: CHS does more than verify benefits eligibility. CHS helps you assess how, when and in what capacity the employee should return.

PHYSICIAN-LED PROGRAM: Cases are medically managed from “day one” by our experienced nurses. They monitor patient care by the treating physician and track progress toward return to work. They have direct access to CHS in-house physicians for advice about treatment results and for help resolving any issues.

STRATEGIC CONTROL: By medically managing each claim to achieve the optimum conclusion, CHS gives you greater control over the duration and cost of absences. CHS also estimates the time away so you can make decisions about shifting work among co-workers or hiring replacements, and helps you plan ahead for accommodations that will facilitate a return to work.

BOTTOM-LINE VALUE: Since CHS documents how many weeks of disability pay we save, you can measure our value. We can also help you realize health care cost reductions through more efficient management of treatment and the associated administrative processes. In addition, we help you prevent claims by identifying trends. For example, if mental illness claims are on the rise in a particular location, we can help you address the problem.

CHS provides valuable third-party medical expertise that helps your organization:

  • Determine if an employee is eligible for FMLA, workers’ comp, or disability benefits
  • Plan for productivity during the employee’s absence
  • Speed and ease the employee’s return to work

CHS consistently helps employees return to work quickly—often ahead of schedule—saving disability payments and salaries for replacement workers. We coordinate both work- and non-work-related disability programs as part of an overall workforce health management strategy, by partnering with organizations’ existing employee health-related initiatives.

It’s an easy process:
Just fax the claim. CHS case managers, nurses, and physicians review eligibility and provide a document you can use to support your benefits recommendation. Every employee receives the same fair, consistent claims review, and you receive the documentation to prove it. Every case summary also shows the professional case management time spent, so you have complete control over costs.
